From 1 November 2026, new Roblox Terms of Use apply in Europe. For families, one point is genuinely new: purchases can be withdrawn within 14 days. But there is a catch. Roblox announced the changes on 1 October in the developer forum. The full rules are in the Roblox Help Center.
The key points:
- New: If you live in the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, you can withdraw from purchases on Roblox within 14 days. Roblox added this right only for these countries, not for Switzerland or the UK.
- The catch: For items and other digital content, Roblox can ask you to waive this right first. Once the item has been used, there is no withdrawal.
- Not new: Under 18, a parent has to set up the account together with the child and accept the rules. That was already the case before.
What the right of withdrawal does and does not do
Withdrawing means taking back a purchase without giving a reason.
But section 6.7 of the new rules also says: for digital content, Roblox can ask you to agree to immediate delivery and so give up the right of withdrawal. If you then download or use the content, you can no longer withdraw from the purchase. The rules do not say for which purchases Roblox will ask for this waiver. We will add this after 1 November.
The waiver does not apply to subscriptions. If you withdraw from a subscription, you get your money back, minus the time already used.
Who is actually the seller?
Roblox also makes clear: if you buy something in a game, you are usually buying from Roblox, not from the team that made the game. If there is a problem with a purchase, Roblox is the one to contact.
Parental consent: a reminder, not a new rule
In the announcement, Roblox writes “As a reminder”. Even before, a parent had to set up the account together with a player under 18 and accept the rules. According to the rules, parents are responsible for what their child does on Roblox. Whether and how Roblox will ask for consent to the new rules is not stated anywhere.
What it means for parents
This is our assessment, not a statement from Roblox.
The right of withdrawal hardly protects against unwanted purchases. If your child buys an item and uses it right away, the withdrawal is probably already gone. What works beforehand is a monthly spending limit through a linked parent account, according to Roblox up to the age of 12. Our guide Creating a Roblox account explains how.
If something has happened anyway, be quick. The deadline is 14 days. According to the rules, Roblox accepts the withdrawal by post, by email or via the form at roblox.com/support. Charges you never allowed should be reported to Roblox Support right away.
Be careful with messages about the new rules. If an email asks you to agree, do not click any links in it. Open Roblox directly in the app instead. How to protect the account further is explained in our guide Securing your Roblox account.
As of 6 October 2026. Still open: for which purchases Roblox asks for the waiver, and whether parents have to actively agree.
